My Mission

With Empowered Consulting and Counseling, my mission is to provide therapeutic tools to individuals, families and couples through talk therapy that empowers the client to find the success they want in a way that feels energetic and motivated. Empowerment is the concept where a person feels enabled, self-responsible and self-determined to reach after their individual goals. At Empowered Consulting and Counseling, the client is the expert of their life-- whether they are or aren’t feeling that way at the moment.

I promote access to their inner strength by allowing the client to guide the sessions while gently encouraging new perspectives that support the overall goal. I, also, realize that the goals might change! As we work further, we may see that our goals adapt to new realizations and experiences. Life is a creative process and the work we do here will embody mind and body approaches towards goals-- all the while working from clients’ strengths.

My Approach

You will immediately notice that in my approach, I am kind, thoughtful and attentive. My first goal is to make sure you feel heard and understood. I like to summarize what I hear from my clients so they can make adjustments. Then I always provide gentle feedback. Even when we are working on changes, I commit to you that I will be empowering when working with you through challenges and growth.

It is important to me that we develop a therapeutic bond and that you feel the counseling is centered on you. I encourage feedback so that you feel comfortable with the conversation. We will design the treatment plan together so that you feel it is customized to suit your needs--and we can always adjust. My techniques derive from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (where we review how our thoughts, feelings and behaviors interact), Motivational Interviewing (where I use empowering questions to guide you) and Solution-Focused Therapy (where we keep our goals in mind). I validate you and provide an emotional corrective experience, but also, I will gently encourage you to focus on solutions and your strengths.

Therapy can be a pleasant and rewarding experience for people in all walks of life. I highly appreciate the effort and trust it takes to seek help. I'm happy you've decided to take on this journey that I know will be fruitful, if you're ready to commit. Please know, I am available to support you in your process of change. I am delighted to begin working with you.

I am a born and raised resident of New Jersey. I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts and Sciences in Psychology and Theatre Arts and Master of Social Work from Rutgers University, The State College of New Jersey. Those in my personal life will say that I am kindness and empathetic to my core. I find genuine enjoyment in the enjoyment of others, and the sadness of others inspires me to provide support. My unique characteristics led me to obtain degrees that would allow me to flourish and apply my skills.

I am both extroverted and introverted; which gifts me the ability to break down tense barriers quickly while empowering me to sustain a trusting, intuitive, and deep therapeutic alliance. While my original career path was to work in schools, I was called to create my own practice because of the success I met with clients. I have worked in schools, with children protective services, and in with psychiatric patients of a hospital.

My experience started with children and teens and as a social worker, my training centers on “person-in-environment”, therefore family therapy was the next appropriate step for myself if I wanted to support significant improvement. I truly enjoy working with the family unit because the progress and end results are beautiful to witness. My engagement with couples therapy followed appropriately from family therapy. I enjoy the experience of observing a couple find their strength and connect.
